I had better get this post written or it won't happen. I'm so behind, have tons of stuff to tell you guys but have been swamped at work. My project goes out for tender tomorrow so it's going to get better.
After Brad's conference*, I flew down to San Diego to spend the weekend. It was super fun. We really only had one full day - I arrived late Friday night and we had to be at the airport at 3:00pm on Sunday.
Unfortunately The Padres were out of town, but we walked past the ballpark. They have a really nice area where you pay a couple bucks to sit in the grass and watch the game from this angle.
We went to Mission Beach which is what we are imagining is a smaller version of Venice Beach. For us it was a taste of a different world.
Best. People. Watching. Ever.
There was a midway at the beach with a big roller coaster. We had ice cream, one of my favourite things to do in the summer - but the most ice cream I've ever eaten in one sitting. We actually had problems finding 'normal' portions down there - seriously, I just want a scoop or two on a regular cone - I don't need the entire tub on a mega-waffle-cone with chocolate covered pretzels and smarties glued all over it! We also ordered margaritas and the glasses were bigger than our heads.
We also checked out "Old Town" which was disappointing. We thought it was going to be more old buildings and history but it was too built-up-touristy. There was a street market there...I bought two more scarves.
I know.
On Sunday we walked around the sea wall downtown and had lunch. Again, a bit touristy but it was okay. We were mostly enjoying the weather and scenery.
Interesting plants and trees down there - so different from up here. It was like walking through a Tim Burton set at times.
The best part was finding a local restaurant on Saturday night that specialized in tequila and had yummy tapas. I'm not even a big tequila fan, but the stuff I had there was killer.
*I'm not allowed to write about Brad's conference, but let's just say he had a great time.

Sounds like a great mini-trip! I love all of the pictures! It's too bad that the Padres were out of town... two MLB games in one year would have been great, huh?
What's that about being behind in blogging? I wouldn't know at all what that's like... ;)
The mini adventure sounds awesome! I'm so impressed how you and Brad go on all these small trips and end up amassing some serious travel experience. Jealous!
