A good friend of mine D. is pregnant. Of course she told me right away and I had to keep it quiet.
So I went online and started looking for fabric to make her a quilt. This is what I bought.
My big plan was to keep it a secret and not give it to her until her last day at work.
About a week after I bought the fabric D. wrote me an email and said 'I'm going to make a blanket.'
Uh-oh.
I responded back, all innocent 'What kind of blanket?'
She wrote back: "I found this really cool fabric with buildings and bikes."
Oh damn. Really?
I showed her what I had ordered and it was the same fabric!!
So I had to confess that I already had that very fabric on it's way for a quilt. Unfortunately we were at work and nobody even knew she was pregnant so we couldn't freak out like we wanted!
I finished the quilt a couple weeks ago. Other than some mistakes - that I claim make it better because it's home made - it's amazing.

WoW! A story of great minds!
And, this makes me realize that I gotta start knitting a baby sweater!
Very nice indeed! Crazy story!!
That's a cool coincidence!!
I really admire your quilt making skills btw, and craft skills in general. Quilting is something in my head I think I would absolutely love...of course, I'd have to actually learn how to sew in order to make it a reality! One day...!
Love it!!!
Amazing! What are the odds that she would find (and love) the exact same fabric? What a sweet gesture, Jabba. :)
