Too far?

Would you commute this far to work? It seems to take about 30 minutes (by car) door to door, but I haven't done it in "rush hour" yet.

On one hand, we didn't move here so that one of us could commute. One the other hand, we are in a recession and times are tough....I want to be green, so I'm looking into bus routes, but the transit system here isn't as efficient as the Vancouver system. (ie: no West Coast Express to the suburbs!)

I've been working for 13 years and I have never once driven a car to work. I've always either walked, biked or taken the bus. So driving a car is a really strange idea to get my head around.

What do you think? Would you do it?

With people losing their jobs left and right I would totally do it. If it doesn't work out you can always quit!

We've been pretty anti-car but recently my fiancée got a great job in deep cove (further north and west) and so she bought a small, fuel efficient car and commutes from downtown victoria until (basically) the ferries. She's found some people to carpool with so that's awesome.

I didn't even think about carpooling. That is a great idea. Think you can find people for that on Craigslist??

Yes, carpooling...I'd be down with that if it's the right person. Unfortunately this company only has about 5 people working there so chances are.....but we'll see. I'm leaning towards doing it. Davin, it's good to hear that there are others in the same situation!

What a wee company! Maybe when you get to know those 5 carpooling might be workable?
