It's been sitting on my night stand forever. Ben, you were right - Oliver is pretty weak. Not much of a personality there, compared to Dickens' other notable characters.Maybe it's the warm weather but I need something more 'mindless'. I love mysteries and not the serial killer, gory mass murder type. Agatha Christie is top in my books, but I've read a lot of her stuff. So I've found PD James. Brad had one of her books and I read it when we first met. So I'm re-reading.
What books are you guys reading these days? Do you tend to read more 'mindless' stuff in the summer months?

Not quite summer reading, but I'm reading The Book of Negroes

I'm not really reading anything right now....but that will change very soon!!
Anthony Trollope: many books about the trials and tribulations of country parsons. Try the Barchester series of books, or "Framley Parsonage" or "The Warden." Right now I'm reading "Miss MacKenzie" - she inherited a little money and now doesn't know whether to marry the curate or not (he's got a squint). Trollope is probably an acquired taste.... (but it's a taste worth acquiring since he wrote dozens of books).
Here is what I always say if you can't get into a book: perhaps it just isn't the time for that book and you.
Ok, so I went through an Anthony Trollope phase last summer. You have to be really really ready to immerse yourself in the book, though.
Currently, I am reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. It is an interesting look at books, writing, twins, and MYSTERY oooooOOOO (ghost noises).
However if you want summer mindless but hilarious and with a nice arc and ending moral...I suggest Jen Lancaster (Bitter is the New Black or Such a Pretty Fat)!
I got nuthin'. I'm still stuck on Austen and Hardy!
Claire & Ben - I have an Anthony Trollope in my bookcase and one day we will meet but not quite yet.
I'm ashamed that I even admitted to reading the book in my latest post but alas, we all have moments of weakness right?!
