Elastics...again.
Lately I've noticed it's been hard for me to bite again. I had ramen soup a week ago and was surprised I couldn't bite the noodles. I checked out my front teeth and yes - my bite is opening up again. It's only about 1mm but that's enough to make things difficult.
So I had an intense orthodontic treatment on Monday. He had noticed my bite opening up over a month ago* so he had a plan.
I had a band and four brackets removed**. He installed new brackets (no band!) to move my bottom front teeth in a different way. I had to have wire ties again too - which I haven't had in a while. So some sore teeth for the last two days.
The "best" part - I'm back in elastics at night.
Serious deja vu.
The first hour with the elastics was kind of weird - it really felt like I was clamped shut and had to remember to breathe through my nose. However last night was much easier. This morning I had that familiar sensation of feeling like my jaw was going to fall off when I took them off.
I didn't ask about when the braces are coming off, I have a feeling it won't be the end of the year. Honestly, I'll wear these things another year if I have to in order to help save my bite.
One day after that adjustment - my teeth are touching. I'm always blown away by how fast your teeth actually move - no wonder they get so sore.
*Yup, he knows these things before I do. Crazy.
** I've had lots of anxiety about how this is done but honestly, it wasn't bad. Even the band which freaked me out the most.
