TMJ

I have TMJ. In other words, I clench my jaw.....or something.....when I sleep. I think?

Anyway, I've had it for a long time and massage therapy does wonders but I haven't been keeping up with it.
So when it's bad (like now) I can't open my mouth very wide at all. Which means no giant sandwiches with that extra piece of bread in the middle, no giant hamburgers, no jawbreakers - you get it.

So today I had to pick up three engineers and take them to a job site. I hadn't met these guys before and I was kinda nervous. Everything was fine of course - they were really nice guys.

After we were done on site, we decided to grab a quick lunch - sushi right across the street! Yay!

While browsing the menu, I thought "Okay the yam rolls are sometimes really big so no yam....the salmon rolls though - those are
always small and manageable. Yup, salmon roll it is."

What are the chances that this restaurant of all places serves giant salmon maki?!

I've never seen such giant salmon rolls.

I always love your post illustrations!

Are you thinking of trying massage therapy?

even pretty girls need to read said...

Noooo. Point #5,000 why we might be the same person: I also have TMJ. Mine stems from jaw surgery, but - like you - opening the mouth super wide is a no go. Just yesterday at the dentist, he was all...try not to yawn too big...

Next: try not to live too much.

THERE YOU ARE!! I was getting worried about you and your conspicuous absence from the internet...

I've had TMJ in the past, too. Totally sucks. How did you manage with those giant salmon rolls? (Did you have to pretend that you didn't know how to use chopsticks, then use a fork and knife to cut the maki into smaller pieces? That would have been horrible-- but awesome at the same time.) Good to see you back!

What did you do? Did you have to take little bites? I hate it when a piece of sushi is too big for one bite - that's bad design!
