Tillicum Mall

I went out today to buy Brad a birthday gift. I had to find a London Drugs so I hit the internet and got an address - a mall. "I haven't been to this mall yet," I thought. "It will be an adventure!"

So after getting lost only once along the way, I come to a corner and see a Petcetera attached to this mall I'm heading to.

"Hmm! I thought there was only one Petcetera in Victoria. This is great!" I say.

Wait....Oh. NO. This is the same mall where the FabricLand is. I've just approached it from a different angle!!

"Well," I sigh, as I pull into the parking lot "at least I know what I'm getting into..."

Tillicum Mall is the most ridiculous mall I have ever visited. Here are the reasons why:

1. From the main street, it looks like a strip mall of big box stores with separate entrances: Safeway, Petcetera, Winners, Zellers etc. It actually isn't just strip malls, there is an entire mall inside - if you can find the front door....

2. When I visited the mall in December I assumed you could access the Fabric Land store from inside - you know like the definition of a mall?? But could I find the front door? No. You know why? Because the front door is actually located underneath a gigantic Winners sign. I dunno, call me stupid but I assumed that was the entrance into the Winners store....

3. After you locate the front door and enter it, you find yourself in weird-no-man's-land. There are only a couple of options: go into the Petcetera through a secret tiny back entrance, go into a bank or go down an escalator. Choose the latter and you get to the mall. Finally!

4. After walking around this mall once (back in December), I had to call Brad to make sure I had the address for FabricLand right. I did. I decided to go back to the car and drive around the back of the building. Yup, there it was. Why isn't there an entrance into FabricLand store through the mall?!

5. Today, I was heading to London Drugs. Since I had already been to the mall, I felt rather confident that it was hidden in the bowels of the mall - it was. But why isn't there a prominent London Drugs sign on the street?!

The morale of the story: I am ridiculous. (But so is the mall.)

YAH I'm not a huge fan of that mall either. The movie theater outside there is where Ian's dad passed away... don't think we will go back :(

Ha ha! I enjoyed this. It is a weird mall. There is a good London Drugs closer to you downtown with a humongous sign on Yates Street - 911 Yates. It's also close to a supermarket you may find interesting - it's a little more West End style than the usual Safeway/SaveOn - called the Market on Yates, corner of Yates and Quadra.

Secret tiny back entrance? Sounds like a mall built for me.

Was great to catch up with you the other day my little pal!

Sassy S - Yikes!

Ben - Thanks for the info! I avoided that London Drugs because that parking lot is so. super. tiny. Next time I will brave it.

IG - It WAS great. I can't wait to do it again. Next time I hope I don't catch a cold on the bus though!
