Float Planes and House Plants

Tomorrow I get to take a float plane into Vancouver for the day for work. I've been on these planes before but every time I do it I still get excited.

I'm sure it's universally acknowledged that it's lame to blog about your houseplants blooming, but I have this really great plant that has the most awesome flowers.

My Grandma gave me a snip of her plant years ago wrapped in a wet paper towel. I brought it home with me on the plane and planted it and it's still going strong. I would die if anything happened to it. So when it blooms I get super stoked.

The darker part of the flower grows to it's full size first. Then when the red flower starts to come out it looks like a tube of lipstick. And it's all fuzzy.
Which makes it even better.

It's a lipstick plant! We have one of them, too, but even though it's been around for years, it's never ever bloomed. I wonder why...

I love that story about how you brought the plant home from your grandma - it's like you have a piece of her with you always!

It was great seeing you yesterday!

I've never been on those planes, but they always look like fun taking off and landing by Coal Harbour. Do they supply an in-flight movie or do you have to bring your own?? :p

I wish I was a better gardener. I just don't seem to have the knack. Glad you do...it's a lovely flower.

I'd be excited about that plant blooming too.

Hope you enjoyed the float plane!
