OOooooohhhhh.......this is what I've been reading since December. Normally I'm not a slow reader, but this book is involved. The first 230 pages were super slow and I was waiting impatiently for them to get to the castle already!!! After that the book took off like a rocket - every third page something new was happening to Emily - (*SPOILER ALERT*) secret chambers, scary paintings, ghosts, kidnappings, murders, you name it. I could hardly keep up.
Now I have 50 pages left and Ludovico has volunteered to spend the night in a haunted chamber. The morning after he can't be found and he had locked himself in. Actually pretty creepy.So Ms. Radcliffe, it's been great, but I'm anxious to finish and move on to something modern. I think a trip to the library is in order, nothing on my shelves is calling my name. Any recommendations?*There is seriously this much punctuation in this novel. There is a note in the book that says it's indicative of the way it's meant to be read aloud. For us modern readers - think William Shatner. Ooooh yeah, it works.

Yeah.....since I got this new bag I figure why not take advantage of those pockets and take all the stuff I could possibly want to put on my lips with me! No, I'm serious. All of these tubes live in my bag.
I have the typical addiction to lip balm, but recently I've discovered how great a subtle lip gloss can be.
It all started when I got married and needed make-up in general. I bought the lipstick and lip gloss from Mary Kay - that stuff is fantastic.
Egg nog lip balm? A gift and truly awesome. Burt's Bees - who can live without this stuff?! So why not get three versions? The other gloss was on sale.....now I don't know which to leave at home.

Awwwhhh Chip! I love him.Anyway, I took him to work where he has been hanging out, getting into trouble and having a great time ever since. He migrates from my desk to other work mates spaces and generally haunts the office.Friday morning I came in and discovered that Chip was missing!! Gasp!One of my workmates was looking guilty so I knew that he had hidden him somewhere. I started looking around and couldn't find him so I launched into a story about one of my old work mates: one morning they stole my Lego Darth Vadar and attached him to the ceiling tiles. I took a picture, check it out:
So, I was laughing about it as I said, "Why do people do this to me?" as I glanced up and did a double-take. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something intensely staring down at me from the ceiling.

If not, this is what I saw when I glanced up. In fact, this is what I'm seeing at work all day until someone decides to get him down for me.
It was the best moment - we were laughing SO hard when I saw him. The conversation leading up to it was perfect, what a great way to start a day.

This is my favourite fabric right now. I bought this stuff to make bags to put in my Etsy shop, but I couldn't bear to cut into any of it (even though the first thing was to make yet another bag for myself...) so I decided to make another quilt for ME!!.....and Brad.
And get this - it's going to be more challenging than the first one because I'm planning to cut bigger squares out of the fabric on the top (in the photo) to capture the larger pattern. The rest of the fabric I'm planning to cut out in equal, smaller squares to surround it. I'm breaking out the AutoCAD to draft it out first of course.
My Etsy shop has been busy these days too. I'm going to be featured on a little craft blog in the next few days - I'm giving away a free Buttercup Bag! I've also had two custom requests in the last two weeks. I sold one a couple weeks ago and I'm waiting for the fabric to arrive to make a bag for an interesting woman in Brooklyn.I hope my little Pfaff machine doesn't collapse with all the work ahead of it. I give her little pats though and tell her she's a good girl after projects, so she's good to go.
Remember how some of my friends and family bought me gifts off my Etsy Favourites list? Well, after Christmas was all over I bought myself a gift - a pair of earrings from my Favourites list that I didn't get as a gift.
The package was delivered on Thursday.
What a gorgeous job she did at packaging these earrings! It was like unwrapping a treasure, layer by layer.
I love her shop, I'll be shopping there again for sure. Her jewelry is gorgeous and reasonably priced, check it out!
About 8 years ago I went to a Canucks game in Vancouver. I went with my buddies Kris and Jason. We showed up before the game without tickets and Jason talked the scalpers into a great deal. We ended up sitting in The Molson Canadian Zone, holy CRAP was it ever fun.
Everyone there (mostly guys) was out to have a great time. They provided free crap to wave around (like those foam fingers) and got everyone totally riled up and cheering the entire time. I walked out of there with a Molson Canadian logo "tattooed" on my face and sproingy Canadian leafs sprouting out of my head.
The game was great too, it's NHL so you can't get any better. The stadium was totally packed and the crowd was super loud and excited.....
We went to a Victoria Salmon Kings game on the weekend. (sigh)Yes, I know, I know. They aren't in the same league as the Canucks and Victoria is smaller. But I don't know - it was sad. The stadium wasn't even half full, the game was really slow and there were so many announcements during the game that I got lost in all the sponsorship. It also probably didn't help that this woman was sitting right behind me.
She screamed the entire time. She yelled at the players, she yelled at other people in the audience and she screamed at the mascot. It was ridiculous.Unfortunately the whole experience left me with more-than-my-usual longing for Vancouver and everything it has to offer.

Radio: ....commuters will want to know the Bay Street Bridge is closed to all vehicle traffic today. The Johnson Street bridge will be busy with all that traffic re-located......now on to weather....

I climb out of bed and stumble into the shower.
7:25am
As I'm parking the car, I see firetrucks and firemen blocking the street. Since this street leads to the Bay Street bridge I assume they are turning cars away and directing traffic. But at the same time I'm hearing on the radio:
.....no boat traffic is allowed underneath the bridge and no floatplanes allowed to fly over the bridge. No evacuations yet though! Now on to ferry schedules.....
7:30am
I approach the intersection with the firemen which is completely blocked off. There is even caution tape up over the sidewalks.
Jabba: "Oh! So the area is closed off to the public all together?"
Super Cute Fireman: "Yup! we've been here since last night at 10pm. The whole area will be closed until at least 11am this morning."
Jabba, turning on my heel: "Sweet! Only half a day work for me!"
8:50am
I'm lying in bed listening to CBC Radio tell me that indeed the bridge is closed to all vehicle traffic, boats and planes and there have been no evacuations. This report was repeated twice between now and 9:30am when we* decided to switch to the other local news station where they finally bother to mention:
.....oh and by the way the local businesses in the area are closed off as well, you can't get anywhere near it......
Thanks CBC, normally I love you but damn!! The firemen were out there all night, the area had been closed off all night. And by 6:00am you still haven't been clear. Yes, you can't drive over the bridge much less get anywhere near the area?!?
I could have had the luxury of shutting off the alarm and rolling over to go back to sleep on a Monday morning but I missed out.*Brad is off work today too, government job.
