We cancelled our cable.
YESSSSS!!!
For over five years I've been begging Brad to ditch it. Lately when it's on I'm driven out of the room. I can't stand it.
Comedy shows are SO bad they drive me to drink. I'm not interested in flashy, cleavage bearing cops (CSI) nor do I care to watch screeching auditions (American Idol). Don't even get me started on reality shows.
I've ranted a lot on this blog about tv. What finally did me in completely was the idiotic show Lost. We don't follow tv shows but we got hooked into that one. That ending spoiled tv, and Hollywood in particular, for me.
The Food Network, which was my go-to channel for a chance of anything interesting, is now complete crap. That Guy's Grocery Games guy? Holy crap - who put him in charge? There are no cooking shows any more. I guess people would rather watch a bunch of wanna-be cooks run around a grocery store and then throw some food together on a hot plate.
So we don't officially have cable anymore but we still get about 20 channels? Not sure how long this will last. It was long enough for me to watch the World Series this year which I really enjoyed - as usual.
Next year if I have go to to a pub for 7 nights to watch it - fine. That's way better value than $40/month for utter garbage. More fun too.

Good for you for getting rid of cable. I'm always on the fence to get rid of it... I actually watched so much baseball on TV this season that I got my $40 worth...
I also keep it around for my reality TV shame: the Bachelor/Bachelorette, and for Dateline which my friend Mathew got me into...
Oh and the Olympics are every two years.
But srsly, sometimes I go a month without turning on the TV.
Also it's this weird security blanket too... Like if there was nothing else to do, at least I have cable.
Yay for you for getting rid of it!
Also watching World Series in a pub is great1
Are you getting Netflix?
Cable was included at our last place, but we only ever watch cycling with it. (Tons and tons AND TONS of cycling. Insane, really.)
Also, to Christielli above-- I know from experience (cough!) that you don't need cable in order to watch The Bachelor/ette series. They stream the episodes online, right from the CityTV website. You just need to keep within 3 episodes, because they only link to the past 3 episodes at a time, max. [End embarrassing Bachelor-watching disclosure.] And for the record... we haven't watched it since the Emily/Jef season.
