The best part of watching these old shows is the scenery. I love the clothing, the music, the old cars (or should I say tanks?) and the decor.
Too funny when you see a tape recorder that takes up an entire desk drawer. Or a kitchen full of Avocado Green or Harvest Gold appliances that were the latest thing. Plus, the fascination people had with wallpaper back then - what the hell?!
Anyway, I was talking to my mom the other day and she mentioned a few TV shows that she loved so I thought I'd check them out...
Soap
My Mom loves this one and I must agree - it's fantastic. A parody of the soap opera. Billy Crystal in his twenties. They live in an area called Rich. My favourite character by far is the butler, Benson. (Yes, the show Benson was then a spin-off from Soap which I didn't know!)
MASHThis is my Mom's all-time favourite. It's definitely also one of mine - it never gets old! Brad told me about an episode where Klinger decides he's going to eat an entire jeep. He starts with a bolt and gets sick.....I haven't seen it yet but I'm dying to.
Barney MillerThis is a great show. I love the setting - a police station in New York. The characters are unique and hilarious and the music at the beginning has to be my favourite. opening music. EVER.
WKRPI haven't watched any of these yet, but maybe tonight they will roll in. This is one of Brad's favourite shows from his childhood and from what I remember it's good - but I didn't really watch it back then. (What was wrong with me?!)

What were some of your favourite shows from the 70's?

Emergency!!
The Muppet Show!
The Six Million Dollar Man!
And this from a house where we wern't allowed to watch TV....
OK, we gotta talk about M*A*S*H! At our place, we have a list of all the episodes which we highlight as we see them again...there are still about 4-5 that we keep on missing (renting is against the rules). Yes, I have seen the episode where Klinger tries to eat a jeep, and the one where he trys to "fly away" on a bike with wings (wearing women's clothing and fuzzy pink slippers)...classic, pure classic!
Barney Miller was a favorite of mine also. I'll confess also to the Mary Tyler Moore show and the series Kung Fu with David Carradine.
Isn't Nayway the best?
UglyMonkey - Emergency huh? Just the title sounds interesting. I'm guessing it's about a hospital? And OBVIOUSLY the muppet show!!
Nayway - do you guys actually have a chart on the wall? That's hilarious! I feel like a kid in a candy store because I love the show and haven't seen many of them. My mom just told me about an episode where Potter shoots his jeep like a horse because it doesn't run properly anymore. Ohmigod, I love it.
Ben - I'll definitely have to look her up, I'm more familiar with Carol Burnett.
Rawbean - Anyone who keeps a record of MASH episodes is #1 in my books.
Not sure if this was 70 or early 80s but Three's Company!! I can't believe my parents let me watch such an over-sexualized (in a hilarious way of course) show when I was in Grade School!
